Poets’ Retreat
Pavilosta, Latvia
The unspoiled natural landscape of Pavilosta provides the perfect setting for the harvesting of creative energy and the cultivation of possibility through poetic exploration. This poets’ retreat includes a range of cabins for up to four people, a common building with a shared kitchen and dining room, a cantilevered event space and roof deck, a host house, traditional Latvian saunas, and extensive gardens. The design aims to maintain the pristine expanse of the site as a canvas and takes inspiration from traditional Latvian countryside architecture. The site uses both passive and active energy strategies, including solar thermal systems fed by collected rainwater and biomass boilers.
